Special Programs - Children's Spanish Program

The aim of this program is to enable your children to study Spanish at the Instituto Cultural Oaxaca as well. In order to participate, your child must be between 6 and 14 years old and be able to read and write.

Your child will be placed into a class based on age, prior experience with Spanish and evaluation through a brief placement exam which is taken upon arrival. The program places an emphasis on ´learning by doing.´ A typical day might look like this:

9:00am – 10:15am Class time comprising basic grammar rules and useful vocabulary, taught through lessons, games and songs
10:15am – 10:30am Recess
10:30am – 1:00pm Class field trips to places such as museums, different markets around the city and even the hot chocolate factory

In the afternoons, if you would like, your child may take the cultural workshops along with you. Popular workshops for children include ceramics, weaving and even salsa dancing. Please note that younger children must be accompanied by an adult at the workshops.
