Homestays
The Instituto Cultural Oaxaca gives you the option of living with a local Oaxacan family during your Spanish learning.
Staying with an Oaxacan family will be an everlasting experience, and your immersion to learn Spanish Oaxaca will be holistic.
The families will provide you with comfortable and clean private rooms (or shared for people traveling together). Living with a family enables you to interact on a daily basis and helps develop your comprehension and speaking abilities. Our families are carefully screened and their homes inspected by Institute staff to ensure peace of mind while taking advantage of learning about Oaxacan culture.

We also offer accommodation in several reasonably priced, small family-run lodgings.
B&B’s offer private and welcoming rooms to make students feel at home and are an ideal option if you would like more independence. They provide you with a comfortably appointed individual room, with its own bathroom.
La Betulia – Bed and Breakfast Oaxaca
If you are interested in staying at a Bed and Breakfast in Oaxaca, we have the perfect option for you. La Betulia is a beautiful, newly renovated B&B located within walking distance of the Instituto Cultural Oaxaca. The two-story colonial B&B features simple yet chic, single and double rooms open to a central patio. The serene atmosphere is the perfect place to sit and relax, study Spanish, read, and or mingle with other guests.

Apartments in Oaxaca
For long-term stays, the Instituto Cultural Oaxaca also offers the option of renting apartments in different neighborhoods of the city, with various capacities and services.
Living in an apartment allows you to live in Oaxaca more independently, with a partner, family, or friends. The price range is from US$550 upwards per month, which includes electricity, gas, and water (not drinkable). Apartments are rented monthly. If you would like us to arrange an apartment, please forward your preferences concerning price range and amenities on the application form. To secure your booking for an apartment, you will need to pay the US$55 registration fee in advance.
Central Xochimilco – Rooms and Apartments
Located 15 minutes walk from the world-famous Santo Domingo Church and many of Oaxaca’s attractions, Central Xochimilco was designed for savvy travelers that want to explore and wander around Oaxaca city.
Central Xochimilco offers serviced apartments, lofts, and private rooms with shared bathrooms for 4 nights or more. Located in a recently restored, typical colonial house, we offer cheap, chic accommodation with designer private rooms and dorms with wooden bunk beds, creating a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere.
